Artwork inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo
As part of our topic this term on Healthy Living, we have introduced the children to the artwork of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Giuseppe Arcimboldo, a sixteenth-century Italian artist, is remembered for his arrangements of such items as flowers, fruits, vegetables, animals, or books into strange but recognisable portraits of people.
The children began by looking carefully at real fruit and vegetables. We talked about the colour, texture, shape and smell, dissecting them to find out what was inside. (The best part!)
The children designed their own 'Arcimoboldo' Faces by choosing different fruits and vegetables to represent the features on the faces. Here are some of our nursery masterpieces for you to enjoy and admire!
