WORLD BOOK DAY!

As normal, complete your phonics and maths - details below.

Phonics - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

Please access the 2 videos for the correct set (see dojo message indicating correct set).

Maths - Today's lesson is an activity based lesson around comparing heights.

Watch the video and complete the three challenges explained at the end using either things around your house or in your garden. Maybe even on your daily walk!

You can record this in your book or send me some photographs.

World Book Day Activities:

Watch the performance of Supertato - Bubbly Troubly. I hope you enjoy it!

Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uQgrerT2-E&feature=youtu.be

English/Writing Activity - Using what you know about Supertato and the different characters, you are going to try and role play what they might do and say (see the 4 pictures attached - in one document below).

First pretend to be Carrot - you are trapped! Who has trapped you? why? How are you feeling? What might you say?

Then pretend to be Broccoli - Who are you talking to? What has happened? Who might have written on your face? What are you saying?

Repeat then for Evil Pea and Supertato.

Once you have had a go at role playing some things the characters might say, record your ideas on the sheet, in the speech bubbles.

There is a word bank below that may help too.

I have also attached a reading of the original Supertato book to give you some more ideas for the speech bubbles.

Art Activity - Have a look around your house and see what fruits and vegetables you have in your fridge and cupboards.

Ask an adult to help you cut them up and have a go at using these to make prints using paints. I would like you to use these to create a print of either a superhero or villain - a brand new character for the Supertato books! If you don't have any paint at home, then you could draw something instead.

I have attached an example of two different characters I have found to give you some ideas for how to make the shapes from printing into a character.

Your character could have a mask? A cape? Will they be a hero or villain?

Zoom Session - At 2pm there will be a Zoom session with the class. Here we can share with each other the character we made using fruit and vegetables - see task on class dojo.

Reading/Share a story - After the Zoom session, to mark the end of World Book Day, you should end the day with some reading.

Choose your favourite book, get snuggled up with your grown up at home or brother/sister and read them your favourite story. Maybe you could Zoom someone in your family and read it to them.

All resources are attached below.

I look forward to seeing some pictures of the work the children have completed. Please use the class email address:
