Thursday 28th January

Lesson 1 - Maths

Today, we begin a new block of work all about money! The first two lessons are recap lessons from Year 2 - making sure you can identify and calculate pounds and pence using coins. This lesson focuses on pence. Both groups need to watch the video and then have a go at the activity sheet. I have included an extra challenge below for those of you who find today's activity easy!

Count money (pence)

Watch this video and complete the practise problems.

Extra Challenge:

In your work books, show three different ways of using coins to make each of the following amounts:

1) 24p

2) 58p

3) 79p

For example: 1) 24p = 10p + 10p +2p +1p +1p

What is the fewest number of coins you can use to make each amount?

Lesson 2 - Reading

Read 'Ozma and the Little Wizard' and answer the questions.

Lesson 3 - English

Today, you will complete plot point 8 of 'The Secret of Black Rock'. You can use the completed thinking side sheet intended for Group 1 and try adding some vocabulary ideas of your own using a thesaurus alongside and then complete your sentences using the writing support sheet. If you prefer to follow the video with Mrs C, then use the Group 2 thinking side sheet instead. It is your choice!

Jane Considine's Live Lessons - The Secret of Black Rock - Sentence Lesson 8

Start the video at 12:52.

This afternoon, you will learn more about the Holy book of Islam - the Qur'an (also spelt Koran) and why it is so important in guiding Muslims with the way they live their lives in the same way the Bible is to Christians. You need to listen to the information contained in the PowerPoint below and then watch the BBC video clip. Open the task instructions and answer the questions linked to the video in full sentences in your work book.
