Using Maps in Teams to Locate and Label Areas of the UK

Mapping

As part of the Key Stage 1 topic "Street Detectives", children went for a walk in their local area as a class to note important features of their local area such as parks, Flixton House and Flixton train station.

When they returned to class, they worked in teams to build their local area as best as they could using building equipment and begin to understand the bird's eye view from above. They then created simple maps of the area, choosing some features to include in their maps.
